As the world celebrated World Read Aloud Day, Imisebe marked the occasion in style at Living Waters Primary School, where we shared and enjoyed captivating stories from our publications. Through this initiative, we unlocked, shared, and expanded knowledge among young learners.

As a publishing company, one of our core missions is to promote and nurture a vibrant culture of reading. Each year, Imisebe observes this special day by visiting schools or health institutions and reading stories to groups of children. This tradition not only cultivates a love for reading, but also enhances children’s listening, comprehension, and creative thinking skills, inspiring them to write their own stories.

This year, we were privileged to have six readers representing three different languages. They read aloud to the audience, shared meaningful stories, and facilitated engaging discussions after each reading. In line with this year’s theme, “Celebrating Learning,” we proudly highlighted the importance of education and storytelling in shaping young minds.

Background: World Read Aloud Day

World Read Aloud Day is a global literacy initiative founded in 2009 by LitWorld, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing literacy worldwide. It is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of February. This year, 2026, marks the 19th anniversary of this important movement.

On this day, individuals and organizations across the globe come together to honor the power of reading and storytelling. Through read-aloud sessions, communities unite to share stories, inspire young readers, and encourage storytelling as a means of expression and learning.
