Imisebe’s Commitment to Preserving SiSwati Language and Culture
Imisebe Publishing passionately upholds and promotes the rich tapestry of the siSwati language and culture. Recognizing the profound connection between language and heritage, Imisebe actively engages in initiatives dedicated to fostering siSwati language awareness and cultural appreciation.
Among our contributions, we wholeheartedly support school culture day events across the nation, firmly standing by our commitment to language and culture. We’ve enthusiastically accepted numerous Culture Day invitations from schools, demonstrating our unwavering backing for these vital aspects of our identity.
To safeguard our language from the brink of extinction, Imisebe has meticulously crafted resources. Our publication “Emagugu EmaSwati” delves into and elucidates various cultural activities such as Buganu, Butimba, Umhlanga, Incwala, and Lusekwane.
Furthermore, we’ve produced a siSwati monolingual dictionary, “Umphandza,” tailored for both high school and primary levels. This dictionary, meticulously curated by seasoned authors, preserves and showcases siSwati words, ensuring their endurance. Imisebe’s repertoire also extends to other siSwati publications like “Asibhale Indzaba,” “Wena Bowungatsini,” and “Lifa,” among others.
In a groundbreaking endeavor, Imisebe hosted the inaugural siSwati Spelling Bee, known as “Sibitelo neMisebe,” exclusively for high schools. Eight select schools competed at regional levels, with Swazi National High School emerging as the national champion. This event stands as a testament to our dedication to nurturing the siSwati language and culture, ensuring they thrive for generations to come.
