Sibitelo Nemisebe Regional Competition 2024: A Journey to the National Finals
The Sibitelo Nemisebe Regional Competition 2024 showcased fierce academic and cultural battles as schools across Eswatini competed for a spot in the national finals. The competition, which began on June 11, 2024, demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication from students in various regions.
Manzini Region
The competition commenced in the Manzini region, featuring eight schools: Sidvokodvo Nazarene High School, Bulunga High School, Khuphuka High School, Malunge High School, Zombodze National High School, Inyandza High School, Ekukhanyeni High School, and Mankayane High School. Bulunga High School emerged victorious, securing their place in the national finals by defeating Mankayane High School with a score of 48 points to 30 points.
Lubombo Region
The action moved to the Lubombo region on June 13, where eight schools competed: Duze High School, St. Phillips High School, Nceka High School, Sigcaweni High School, Dlalisile National School, Mhlume High School, Lavundlamanti High School, and Big Bend High School. In a tightly contested final, Big Bend High School triumphed over Mhlume High School with a narrow lead of 45 points to 42 points, earning the right to represent the Lubombo region in the national finals.
Shiselweni Region
The competition reached the Shiselweni region on June 18, held at Evelyn Baring High School. The participating schools included Mbowane High School, Evelyn Baring High School, Siyendle High School, Nsongweni High School, Nhletjeni High School, Christ The King High School, Franson Christian High School, and Our Lady of Sorrows High School. Franson Christian High School clinched the regional title by defeating Nsongweni High School, thereby advancing to represent Shiselweni in the national finals.
Hhohho Region
The final regional competition took place in the Hhohho region, where schools including Sobokazane High School, St. Marks High School, Ka-Boyce High School, Mbuluzi High School, Elangeni High School, Nsukumbili High School, Madlangemphisi High School, and Mhlatane High School competed for the top spot. Despite a strong challenge from Nsukumbili High School, Ka-Boyce High School secured victory and will represent the Hhohho region in the national finals.
Looking ahead
As the regional competitions concluded, the stage is set for an exciting national finals. Schools from Manzini, Lubombo, Shiselweni, and Hhohho regions have showcased their talents and are poised to compete for the ultimate title. The Sibitelo Nemisebe competition has not only highlighted the academic excellence of students across Eswatini but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and cultural pride.
