Supporting Cultural Heritage: Our Sponsorship for Miss Cultural Heritage 2024/5
As one of Eswatini’s premier siSwati publishers, we are deeply committed to initiatives that preserve and celebrate our culture. The Miss Cultural Heritage pageant, an event that resonates with our mission to uphold and enrich Eswatini’s heritage, is one of the key cultural endeavors we proudly support. This year, in partnership with the National Arts and Culture Council, we renewed our commitment to this event, which serves as a platform to honor cultural pride and encourage young ambassadors to carry forward the values of EmaSwati.
As part of our sponsorship, each Miss Cultural Heritage winner received a weekend getaway package inclusive of meals and entertainment vouchers, adding a touch of celebration to their achievements. Beyond these experiential rewards, we gifted each winner copies of our treasured siSwati publication, Umphandza—the first monolingual siSwati dictionary. Additionally, they received two esteemed cultural books: Emagugu Emaswati and Buciko Bemlomo, rich resources that foster a deeper understanding of our heritage and help the winners articulate the essence of EmaSwati with authenticity and pride.
Our sponsorship, valued at 20,000 emalangeni, reflects our ongoing support for cultural education and the development of well-informed cultural ambassadors. These resources empower the Miss Cultural Heritage winners, particularly the Queen, to represent our language and customs with confidence, both at home and in any cultural settings beyond.
The crowning of the Miss Cultural Heritage 2024/5 winners took place at the vibrant Mlawula Camp Festival, where Gcinizwi Tsikati from the Hhohho region proudly claimed the title. Inspired by past winners, many of this year’s participants pledged to participate in future cultural events and to encourage youth to uphold the time-honored values of respecting elders—a cornerstone of Eswatini culture.
By supporting the Miss Cultural Heritage pageant, we reinforce our dedication to cultural preservation, ensuring that the beauty, wisdom, and traditions of EmaSwati continue to flourish for generations to come.
